Think you can do it?
1) Get a handle on the big items, and get a realistic timeframe.
2)Roof: About $100 to $120 per Square (100 SF).
3) Electrical: $4 to $6 per Square Foot.
4) Plumbing: a wild card...look at using alternatives to copper such as PEX.
5) Cabinets: Prices vary widely...look at the quality of the hardware and the solid wood fronts.
6) Floors: Installation only costs should be about $1.50 to $2.50 per SF. Make sure the subfloor is level!
7) Sheetrock: Prices and quality varies widely...ask to see past work!!! This can make or break you when it comes time to sell.
Want to make sure the job gets done right?
A) Do not pay for any labor in advance
B) Break up the work into pieces completed completely.
C) Do not accept excuses such as "we are finishing up another job". Your answer to excuses must be, "well, you will get paid when you are completely finshed with "(B)" above then!"
